Wiebes Completes A Perfect Hat-Trick And Conquers The Tour De Pologne

Lorena Wiebes completed a flawless Tour de Pologne Women by winning all three stages and the final general classification. The SD Worx-Protime sprinter dominated the last finish in Lublin, beating Elisa Balsamo and Lara Gillespie to close the race with three victories from three opportunities.

The final 101.4-kilometre stage began in Janowiec and again favoured the fastest riders. Bodine Vollering and Marta Pavesi spent most of the day in a determined two-rider breakaway, remaining at the front for almost 70 kilometres before the peloton brought them back during the approach to Lublin.

SD Worx-Protime assumed complete control inside the final five kilometres. Lotte Kopecky delivered a powerful final turn to place Wiebes in the ideal position, and the Dutchwoman finished the job with another acceleration that none of her rivals could match.

Balsamo took second place and Gillespie finished third, while Chiara Consonni was fourth. The result allowed Balsamo to move into second overall, 20 seconds behind Wiebes. Gillespie completed the final podium at 23 seconds after recovering strongly from the crash that affected her opening stage.

Wiebes had already shown her superiority in the two previous finishes. She survived rain, crashes and a disrupted lead-out on the first day, before winning more comfortably in Lubartów on stage 2. The final sprint confirmed that neither changing circumstances nor rival tactics could prevent her from controlling the race.

The success was also collective. SD Worx-Protime won the team classification after working for Wiebes throughout the three days, with Barbara Guarischi and Kopecky playing decisive roles in the finishes.

With three stage victories and the overall title, Wiebes leaves Poland with a perfect record and an ideal final test before her next major objectives. On flat terrain and in chaotic finales, she once again demonstrated why she remains the reference sprinter in the women’s peloton.
