Wiebes Makes It Two From Two In Poland

25 Jul 2026

Lorena Wiebes continued her perfect start to the Tour de Pologne Women by winning the second stage in Lubartów. The SD Worx-Protime sprinter found a clear line through another hectic finale and comfortably took her second victory in two days.

Lara Gillespie produced an impressive recovery to finish second after suffering a mechanical problem and changing bikes inside the final ten kilometres. The Irish champion responded to Wiebes’s acceleration but could not match the Dutchwoman’s speed. Elisa Balsamo completed the podium, with Lotte Kopecky fourth.

The last attacker, Katherine Sarkisov, was caught with 8.8 kilometres remaining. Several teams then tried to disrupt SD Worx-Protime’s sprint train, but Wiebes’s teammates returned to the front with 700 metres to go and created the opening she needed.

Wiebes now leads Gillespie by 18 seconds and Balsamo by 19 in the general classification. Only one flat stage to Lublin remains, placing the Dutch rider in an excellent position to complete a hat-trick and win the overall title.
