Il Lombardia seeks a new winner: route and star-rated favourites
Il Lombardia stages its 120th edition on Saturday, 10 October: 239 kilometres from Bergamo to Como and 4,600 metres of climbing. The season's final Monument starts at 10:45 local time, the same time as in mainland Spain.
The Madonna del Ghisallo is followed by a finale featuring Civiglio and two ascents of San Fermo della Battaglia. Civiglio packs 4.2 kilometres at 9.7%, while the final San Fermo summit comes just 5.2 kilometres from the finish. The repeated climbs and descents offer several places to attack before Como.
Without Tadej Pogačar, winner of the last five editions, the race will have a new champion. Our leading favourites are Isaac del Toro, Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas. Del Toro acknowledged knee pain in an interview with Eurosport on Thursday; he remains on the entry list.
