Urška Žigart misses the Worlds after another jaw fracture

Urška Žigart will miss the Montréal Road World Championships after suffering another fractured jaw in a crash during stage 3 of the Faun Tour de l'Ardèche. Further medical examinations confirmed that the Slovenian had injured the same area for the second time in less than three months.

Žigart sustained her first jaw fracture in June after crashing in the final kilometre of stage 2 at the Tour de Suisse Women. She had returned to competition and was third overall at the Faun Tour before the latest accident forced her to abandon.

AG Insurance-Soudal said the repeated nature of the fracture means her 2026 season is likely to end early. Her withdrawal also changes Slovenia's plans for the World Championships, where she had been selected for the elite women's road race alongside Nika Bobnar.
