Johannessen conquers Granada in La Vuelta finale

13 Sep 2026

Tobias Halland Johannessen won the 21st and final stage of La Vuelta 2026, which started and finished in Granada. The Uno-X Mobility rider prevailed in a tight sprint ahead of Alessandro Romele and Ramses Debruyne, who were awarded the same time as the winner.

The 99.4-kilometre final stage allowed a selected group to contest the last victory of the race. Johannessen completed the route in 2:54:08 and found the space to beat Romele at the line. Matthew Brennan finished fourth and missed the chance to add a sixth success to the five stages he had already won.

The victory completed an excellent race for Johannessen, who had finished second to Mikel Landa on the Collado del Alguacil the previous day. The Norwegian found his reward in Granada and claimed his first La Vuelta stage win as Enric Mas celebrated overall victory.
