Enric Mas wins La Vuelta and ends Spain's long wait

Enric Mas won La Vuelta 2026 and claimed the first Grand Tour victory of his career. The Movistar rider reached Granada with the decisive work already done and confirmed the red jersey by 2:15 over Primož Roglič and 2:44 over Felix Gall. Richard Carapaz finished fourth at 6:54 and Sepp Kuss completed the top five at 8:45.

It is the biggest victory of Mas's career after several previous podium finishes at La Vuelta without reaching the top step. His success also ends a 12-year wait for Spanish cycling: no home rider had won the overall classification since Alberto Contador in 2014.

The race also crowned Wout van Aert as winner of the points classification, while Santiago Buitrago secured the mountains jersey. Oscar Onley won the young rider classification after finishing sixth overall, 9:28 behind Mas.
