Evenepoel rules Québec before the Montréal rehearsal

Remco Evenepoel won the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec after driving the decisive selection in the final 30 kilometres. Only Giulio Ciccone stayed with him until the finish, where the Belgian prevailed in their two-man sprint. Anthon Charmig finished third at 15 seconds, while Tom Pidcock recovered to take fourth at 28 seconds.

The race was decided on Québec's short, repeated climbs. Evenepoel accelerated until the front group was reduced, and Ciccone was the only rider able to resist on the final passage. The result gives the Belgian his first victory in Québec and confirms both riders among the main contenders for the World Championships later this month.

The leading names will meet again on Sunday at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal. The race will use the same city and key roads that host the World Championship road race on September 27, making it an especially valuable rehearsal. Evenepoel, Ciccone and Pidcock arrive with their form confirmed, while the participation of Juan Ayuso depends on his recovery from his crash in Québec.
