Mas neutralises Roglič and keeps 1:37 Vuelta lead

11 Sep 2026

Enric Mas retained the red jersey and his 1:37 advantage over Primož Roglič after the summit finish at Peñas Blancas. Felix Gall remains third at 3:01, Richard Carapaz fourth at 5:17 and Oscar Onley fifth at 6:03 after all five crossed the line together, 5:11 behind stage winner Eddie Dunbar.

Roglič first tried to destabilise the race on the Puerto del Viento with around 107 kilometres remaining. Carapaz followed, but Mas closed the move without difficulty. The Ecuadorian later gained around a minute in another group before Decathlon brought him back. On the final climb, Roglič accelerated again, but Mas immediately stayed on his wheel and the move only reduced the group to the top five overall.

Mas now faces the decisive 187-kilometre stage to Collado del Alguacil. The route contains 4,890 metres of climbing, the Puerto de El Purche, Puerto de El Duque and a final ascent of 8.3 kilometres at 9.8%. Roglič and Gall have one final mountain opportunity to overturn the race before Sunday's closing stage in Granada.
