Pidcock targets Québec and Montréal after road victory

Tom Pidcock returns to the WorldTour this Friday as one of the contenders for the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec. The Briton arrives in Canada after winning the elite XCO world title in Val di Sole and immediately carrying that form onto the road with a solo victory at the GP Industria & Artigianato.

Pidcock attacked on the final climb of the Italian race, around 12 kilometres from the finish, and held a 12-second advantage over the chasing group. His next test is Québec's revamped circuit: 16 laps of 12.6 kilometres and more than 200 kilometres of constant climbing and changes of rhythm. The race starts at 11:00 local time, 17:00 CEST.

He will then race the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on Sunday, an important rehearsal before the elite men's road race at the World Championships in the same city on September 27. After major road wins at Strade Bianche, Amstel Gold Race and Alpe d'Huez, Pidcock is chasing his first WorldTour victory of the season while sharpening his form for another attempt at a rainbow jersey.
