Brennan takes his fourth Vuelta win in La Rábida

Matthew Brennan claimed his fourth stage victory of La Vuelta 2026 with another commanding sprint in La Rábida. The Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider completed the 181.1-kilometre stage from Cortegana in 3:56:33, beating Bryan Coquard and Vito Braet. Jordi Meeus finished fourth, ahead of Magnus Cort and Wout van Aert.

Valentin Madouas, Kevin Vermaerke, Simon Dalby, Jasha Sütterlin and Roland Thalmann formed the day's five-man breakaway, but Visma kept their advantage under control and the escape was caught with 22 kilometres remaining. A crash caused by a narrowing in the road brought down several riders shortly beforehand, with Ivo Oliveira the worst affected, although everyone was able to continue. The expected coastal crosswinds failed to split the peloton and Van Aert delivered Brennan into an ideal position to complete the win.

Brennan now has four victories in this Vuelta, while Visma have collected six after Van Aert's two successes. Enric Mas retained the red jersey and leads Felix Gall by 2:06 and Primoz Roglic by 2:10 ahead of Wednesday's stage from Dos Hermanas to Seville. The decisive individual time trial in Jerez and the mountain finishes at Penas Blancas and Collado del Alguacil will follow.
