MyWhoosh mandates Favero pedals for top prize racers

MyWhoosh will introduce a new equipment requirement for leading Sunday Race Club competitors from October 4. All Category 1 riders and Category 2 riders who have earned more than $2,000 in prize money must use approved Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 or RL-2 power-meter pedals as their primary in-game power source to remain eligible for cash prizes.

The pedals are priced at $789, meaning affected competitors will have to acquire specific hardware even if they already own another approved trainer or power meter. The rule follows a partnership between MyWhoosh and Favero and is intended to standardise the power data used to verify performances.

The measure does not apply to every MyWhoosh user or every Sunday Race Club category. Its immediate impact is limited to the highest category and successful Category 2 riders, but it has prompted debate over the cost of competing for prize money in virtual cycling.
