Van Aert takes the green jersey after day in breakaway

Wout van Aert moved into the points lead at La Vuelta after spending most of stage 7 in the breakaway. The Visma-Lease a Bike rider collected maximum points at the intermediate sprint in Mora de Rubielos and added a third-place finish at Valdelinares.

Van Aert now has 104 points, two more than Tadej Pogacar. He also collected mountain points during a demanding day before finishing 47 seconds behind stage winner Andreas Leknessund.
