Jonathan Milan withdraws from Renewi Tour

Jonathan Milan abandoned the Renewi Tour during stage 3 because of the injuries he sustained in the previous day's crash. The Lidl-Trek rider started the 182-kilometre stage from Celles to Geraardsbergen but was unable to continue.

Milan had opened the race by winning a close photo finish against Olav Kooij in Diest. He was then caught in the major crash during the approach to the stage 2 finish in Ardooie, where Jasper Philipsen took the victory and overall lead.

His withdrawal removes one of the race's leading sprinters before the final weekend. Lidl-Trek had not provided further details about the nature of his injuries when the withdrawal was announced.
