Wiebes doubles up at Tour of Britain Women

Lorena Wiebes claimed her second consecutive victory at the Tour of Britain Women after 110.5 kilometres from Clitheroe to Blackpool. The SD Worx-Protime rider launched a long sprint on the seafront and held off Maggie Coles-Lyster and Kim Le Court-Pienaar.

Cold rain affected the stage, which included two classified climbs in its opening 35 kilometres. The race was also temporarily neutralised because of a traffic incident ahead of the peloton before restarting on the flatter roads towards Blackpool.

Wiebes has won both stages and strengthened her overall lead. Clara Copponi and Le Court-Pienaar are her closest rivals at 14 seconds before the uphill finish at The Great Orme.
