Philipsen wins and takes Renewi Tour lead

Jasper Philipsen won stage 2 of the Renewi Tour after 173.9 kilometres between Blankenberge and Ardooie. The Alpecin-Premier Tech rider controlled the final sprint and finished ahead of Joshua Giddings and Søren Wærenskjold.

A major crash marked the approach to the finish and affected several riders, including opening-stage winner Jonathan Milan. Philipsen avoided the incident, claimed the ten-second winner's bonus and moved into the overall lead before the more selective stage to Geraardsbergen.
