Isaac Del Toro wins Deutschland Tour prologue

Isaac Del Toro won the 2.6-kilometre prologue that opened the Deutschland Tour in Bad Orb. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider recorded 3:08.48 and averaged 49.66 kilometres per hour on a short course where every fraction of a second mattered.

Paul Magnier finished 1.73 seconds behind the Mexican and Laurenz Rex was third at 5.05 seconds. German time trial champion Nils Politt conceded seven seconds and placed 12th. Del Toro will wear the leader's jersey on the rolling 215.3-kilometre opening road stage from Bad Orb to Schwäbisch Hall.
