Jonathan Milan wins Renewi Tour opener

Jonathan Milan won the opening stage of the Renewi Tour, raced over 191.3 kilometres with the start and finish in Diest. The Lidl-Trek rider completed the route in 4:04:18 and won the bunch sprint ahead of Olav Kooij and Tim Merlier.

The result carried extra weight because of the quality of the sprint field. Jasper Philipsen finished fourth and Sam Bennett fifth, while defending race winner Arnaud De Lie placed tenth. Milan also claimed the first leader's jersey of the five-stage WorldTour race.
